PETER CREIGHTON

Peter Creighton is an educator and leader with a background in outdoor environmental education. During his tenure at Thompson Island Outward Bound in Massachusetts, he served as an Educator, Program Director delivering innovative programs that fostered educational equity, confidence-building, and scientific thinking among middle school youth and adult groups. Notably, he collaborated with The Wallace Foundation on a national study, managing a staff of 20 teachers examining Summer Learning Loss for urban youth. Peter extended his passion for nature-based education as a Naturalist Educator at Massachusetts Audubon, and as a teacher with Boston Public Schools delivering science curriculum to youth in various Boston area schools. 

Beyond his experience in environmental education, Peter is actively involved in community leadership, serving as the President of the Harvard Travellers Club, a Trustee for the Museum of Fine Arts Boston and Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston. Peter has been involved with numerous conservation organizations as a Trustee or Advisor including the Maine Coast Heritage Trust, Appalachian Mountain Club and the Trustees of Reservations. Has explored over 55 countries as an avid skier and traveler. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Bates College and a Master’s in Education, Teaching, and Learning from Harvard University. Peter spends the summer on Crockett’s Cove in Vinalhaven with his wife and two outdoorsy sons and their black lab.  Off-season Peter and his family can be found in Manchester, MA or Sugarloaf. He has spent his entire life exploring Vinalhaven and Hurricane Island as well as yearly cruising the coast of Maine.
