HEATHER DEESE WOOD PH.D

Heather’s professional passion is bringing people together with the data and information that they need to make wise decisions for the future of our environment and our communities. Heather is a physical oceanographer by training and has been putting science to work for practical problem-solving for the last two decades through positions with government agencies, industry organizations, universities, and nonprofits.

Most recently, Heather spent eight years with Island Institute, a community development nonprofit based in Rockland, Maine, where she held leadership roles in Programs, Development, Research, and Strategy and as Executive Vice President. She currently works for Dandelion Energy heading up their policy and regulatory affairs. Heather holds a Ph.D. from the University of Maine, an M.S. awarded jointly by MIT and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, and a B.S. from Georgetown University.

Heather feels incredibly fortunate to live in Camden, ME where she and her children spend as much time as they can sailing, skiing, trail running, and generally enjoying the amazing community and environment of Penobscot Bay and Midcoast Maine.
