Dash grew up on the coast of Maine, first encountering Hurricane Island in 8th grade as part of a program with Ocean Classroom. After graduating with a B.A. in Anthropology and Philosophy from Brandeis University in the spring of 2016, Dash Marley returned to Maine and spent the next seven years working in campaign politics for organizations such as Maine Citizens for Clean Elections, the Senate Democratic Campaign Committee, and the Maine Democratic Party. Starting as an organizer and then an development assistant, Dash's role immediately prior to joining Hurricane Island was as the Finance and Compliance Director of the Maine Democratic Party.
Starting in spring of 2023, Dash Marley has been thrilled to put his interpersonal, database, and fundraising skills to work supporting Hurricane Island as our Gifts Manager. He is a strong advocate for the importance of applied science in creating a better world, and the value of showing students the process of turning the ideal of sustainability from theory to practice.
