Julie graduated from Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts with a B.A. in English Literature. Post-college she became a whitewater rafting guide happily exploring the rivers of the Southwest U.S. and New Zealand, after a river trip through Brown’s Canyon and the Royal Gorge on the Arkansas River in Colorado opened her eyes to learning-through-living outdoor experiences. Eventually she came off the river to begin a career holding various positions in corporate customer service and operations project management. Immediately prior to joining Hurricane Island Center for Science & Leadership, Julie was the Spa & Recreation Director and a member of the Executive Operating Committee at a prestigious coastal Maine resort.
Her position as the Administrative Operations Director with Hurricane Island and the dedicated people she is able to work with renew her spirit every day. Her “cup runneth over” in the employment and life department as a direct result of being part of the organization. Julie lives in Camden with Emma (dog) and Yahtzee (cat).
