Thank You Spring Tide Supporters

Dear Friend of Hurricane Island

I recently celebrated my five-year anniversary as Executive Director for this remarkable organization. It was clear to me when I accepted the offer from our Board of Directors that, while still very new, this place had achieved a solid track record and was brimming with potential. Five years later, the trajectory of our growth is skyrocketing! We have laid a solid foundation for realizing our mission of integrating science education, scientific research and leadership. Now comes the fun part, as we build upon the vision set forth thirteen years ago to ensure Hurricane Island remains a place of inquiry, curiosity, community, and stewardship for generations to come.

This fall a new Field Research Station will rise on the island, modeling and making visible state of the art practices in sustainable design. A mere vision five years ago, this vital resource for scientific work in the heart of the Gulf of Maine will serve as a keystone, attracting researchers to the island to lead innovative investigations while also cultivating a rich community of students, scientists and staff seeking solutions through formal and informal inquiry.

Not a day goes by when I don’t feel incredible pride at the work we have accomplished together. Our growth is steady and on solid footings, thanks to the commitment of our staff, Board, volunteers, and supporters. We are a part of a strong community that is reinforced with each year’s accomplishments, and I am grateful for the support we have received.

I hope you will consider a gift to help us maintain our remarkable momentum. The groundwork is laid, and we’re building a place where scientific thinking is supported by the joy of discovery.

With your help, we have the power to inspire change.

Sincerely,
