Tara first discovered Hurricane Island when she spent a year as the Drama Teacher at the Vinalhaven School in 2010. Between then and now, she’s lived in NYC working as a theater director, producer, and educator. Her work as a director has been seen in London, Seoul, Edinburgh, Abu Dhabi, Toronto, Vancouver, and Santiago, and in US cities including LA, San Francisco, Chicago, New York, and Rockland Maine! She received a BA from Bennington College and an MFA from Brooklyn College, and has lived and taught and learned in Costa Rica, Chile, Argentina, Russia, Italy and France.
As the Grants & Events Manager, she transfers her fundraising and promotional skills from theater nonprofits to the world of experiential education. She is passionate about bringing people together for shared experiences of discovery and joy—whether through outdoor learning or the performing arts—and is fascinated by how we tell stories with, for, and about our communities.
