DAVID RICE
Infrastructure Committee Chair
David is a retired financial executive, whose career included Chief Financial Officer positions at several Silicon Valley software companies, and consulting CFO roles as a partner at FLG Partners LLC. After retiring in 2009, he and his wife Barbara moved to a rural community on the Northern California coast, where David took on a new “career” direction, as a volunteer firefighter, Emergency Medical Technician and Search and Rescue volunteer.
His EMT activities introduced him to Hurricane Island in 2017, where he attended the week-long Wilderness EMT Upgrade program offered by Wilderness Medical Associates. He was drawn to the island and the Hurricane programs, and has made several return visits.
David grew up in the Boston area, and spent summer vacations on the central Maine coast. A California resident for more than four decades, he relocated to Pittsburgh in 2018 to be closer to family. He is recently widowed; his daughter and son and their families (including one grandson each) live in Pittsburgh and New York. He is a member of the Mountaineer Area Rescue Group in West Virginia, and a licensed EMT in Pennsylvania and California. He has served on two non-profit boards, the board of a local government agency, and three private company boards.
