Danielle joined Hurricane Island in March 2026 as the Advancement Specialist. In this role, she is thrilled to combine her scientific background with her passion for community, environmental conservation, and education. Having previously worked as an environmental chemist in private consulting, she is excited to apply her data management and analytical organization skills to the nonprofit sector to help tell the story of the island’s impact. She also has experience in environmental education and community-based research projects, which has shaped her belief in the power of scientific literacy for schools and local communities.

Danielle graduated from Gettysburg College with a B.S. in Environmental Studies, a B.A. in Chemistry, and a minor in Spanish. During college, she participated in an ecology and conservation program in Ecuador, which deepened her appreciation for the natural world and honed her Spanish language skills, which she hopes to use to serve the Hurricane Island community.

Outside of work, Danielle enjoys running, playing and teaching piano, challenging friends to board games, and drinking a good cup of tea.
