In 2024, Hurricane Island hosted Convergence, an initiative investigating the connections between art and science while inviting over 40 artists to visit Hurricane Island and make an original work inspired by the island and our mission. This year, in collaboration with Portland-based Greenhut Galleries, we are welcoming three resident artists to engage with Hurricane Island's landscape and mission. These artists will spend time on the island over the course of the season and make 5-10 original works that will be presented in a show at Greenhut Galleries in November.
Join us as we welcome the inaugural cohort of artist residents to Hurricane Island for the 2026 season. The afternoon will welcome you to the breathtaking landscape of Hurricane Island, introduce you to our education and research initiatives, and feature a panel discussion with artists Emily Trenholm, Dean McCrillis, and Kathi Smith. This will be followed by a reception and cocktail hour celebrating the work of these artists and Hurricane Island as a source of inspiration.
