As the Advancement and Research Data Specialist, Greta applies her data science skills to support Hurricane Island’s scallop research and donor recognition efforts.
Greta graduated from Bowdoin College with a degree in Biology and Earth & Oceanographic Science. While at Bowdoin, she grew sugar kelp on a limited purpose aquaculture lease in Harpswell Sound and competed on the Varsity Nordic Ski Team. Before joining Hurricane, Greta served as a Project Lead and Geospatial Data Analyst for NASA’s DEVELOP National Program, held several field technician roles at marine labs along the West Coast, and co-authored her first publication on land requirements for utility-scale photovoltaic solar arrays in collaboration with scientists at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.
Greta is endlessly amazed and inspired by the rugged beauty, history, and vibrant community of Hurricane Island. On the island, Greta enjoys scientific diving, volunteering in the dish pit, and trail running. Off-island, Greta is working towards her pilot’s license at Penobscot Island Air.
