Director of Operations
Sam began working for HIF as the Island manager in 2010-2011. In 2013, Sam returned to the organization as the program director. Sam studied resource conservation and wilderness studies at the University of Montana and spent a semester at the Sea Education Association. He then transferred to College of the Atlantic, where he received a degree in Human Ecology. Sam worked for Outward Bound in the Sea Program for 13 years as a logistician, instructor, course director and program manager. He has worked for several other programs and organizations, continually pursuing a passion and commitment to hands-on education. Sam lives on North Haven island in Penobscot Bay, Maine. Sam is a certified USCG 100-ton captain and Wilderness EMT.
