Jessica Batchelder

Maine is familiar place to Jessie as she grew up on the coast of southern Maine spending as much time as possible on the water.  She is now a rising a senior at Colby College studying Environmental Science with a concentration in Marine Studies along with Geology.  This past fall Jessie spent the semester studying Ecology and Spanish in Ecuador while conducting water quality research in the Amazon.  Outside of the classroom, Jessie pole vaults for the indoor and outdoor track teams, is involved in the outing club and works for the Campus Life office as a community advisor in the dorms.  During the winter, she can usually be found at Sugarloaf where she spends every free moment skiing.  Last summer, Jessie worked for The Nature Conservancy on an oyster restoration project and she is excited to work with a different shellfish specie this summer.  Jessie is looking forward to spending her summer at Hurricane Island living and exploring a different part of the Maine coast.
