Maine Fishermen's Forum

Join us in attending the 40th annual Fishermen's Forum, a free event held at the Samoset Resort in Rockland, which includes seminars on a variety of marine topics, a trade show, a seafood celebration, and a benefit auction for kids. Hurricane Island will have a table at the forum again this year on the second floor of the exhibitor hall. Please stop by if you have any questions about our organization or the programs we offer!

Green crabs can be identified by counting the number of spines (5 on each side) from the edge of their carapace (main shell) to their eye socket.

We also encourage you to attend the Eastern Maine Skippers Program student presentation from 10:30-11:30 am on Friday, March 6th. The skippers students have been working on designing research projects around managing invasive green crabs, and will be sharing updates on their project ideas. We had a great time kicking off this project with the skippers on Hurricane Island this past fall, and are looking forward to seeing what they have been up to!
